Gerard and I have been experiencing an unblievable level of peace so far on this journey with cancer. I'm not talking about peace in the sense of sitting quietly, because the steriods are still keeping me very active and sometimes jittery - (and also happy), but more in the sense of not worrying. We are living in the moment. We're not worrying or talking much about the cancer and the possible diagnosis and treatment and certainly not anxiously worrying. We're just experiencing each moment as it comes. It gives such joy and freedom - almost a feeling of total abandon, in a sense. I just can't believe this! We "normally"tend to worry about all of the, "what-ifs". Right now the "what-ifs" don't seem to surface or matter much. We're just in the moment. I've been using the phrase "the peace that passes all understading" meaning that we just don't understand how we can possibly be experiencing such peace, with the cancer, with moving things all around the house, with busyness and people in and out. But we are loving it and are at peace! We talked about this with Steve the other day, and he pointed out that the reason we don't understand it is becuase it is God's peace. Not something that we create. I'm still thinking about it and appreciating this wonderful gift!
Philippians 4:6-7 (New International Version, ©2010)
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
