When All Else Fails, Read the Manual
For the past few weeks my camera was only allowing me to take one picture before saying, "Replace batteries". But I had just put in brand new batteries! And I recharged all my other ones! I re-arranged the batteries, wiped them off, turned them over. Nothing helped. And I couldn't believe how many times I thought of reaching for my camera and then remembered that it wasn't working.
So today I decided to go to the camera shop for some advice and was actually prepared to buy a new camera if I had to. But just as I was about to head out the door, Gerard asked, "Did your camera come with a trouble-shooting guide?" "Maybe. I'm not sure." "Have you checked it out?" "Well, no..." Sheepishly I went to look for my Camera User Guide. As it turns out, I had already tried everything they suggested except, "Before installing the batteries, wipe the battery terminals well with a dry cloth." That's easy enough! Actually, that's pretty well what Gerard had suggested earlier. And it helped! If only I had followed his advice right from the start... I could have had access to my camera for the last few weeks. O well, it's working as good as new and the trip to the camera shop has been cancelled for now. Yay! I've got my camera back!
I didn't realize how often I'm walking along and think, "Wow, that's amazing!" and grab my camera and take a picture. Here are two that I took on my walk to the subway last week.
And here's a house that I saw on Ryan's street last weekend. I just love the rich colours!

Family Time
I'm running a little behind with some of my posts and there's also something wrong with my camera. So here's taking you back to last weekend (Nov.13-14). A lot of the pictures didn't turn out, but here are a few to share the day with you.
At our family reunion this summer it was decided that sometime this fall Opa & Oma (transl. Grandpa & Grandma - my parents) would come to Hamilton to see where quite a few of their grandchildren live. So my niece, Karen, made all the arrangements for last weekend.
We all (Opa, Oma and I) met at Karen's and then headed off to our first stop, Ryan's place, for coffee. Allison and Brad stopped by there on their way to a concert in Toronto - so we didn't get to see where they live, but we did get to visit with them.

Next stop: Steve & Jenn's for our second coffee.

Then lunch, a nap and tea, all at Karen's.

On Sunday evening Mark & Rosemary joined us for dinner and helped us initiate our fireplace for the new winter season.

Fall Garden
There are still a few hardy plants defying the onset of wintery weather. These pictures were taken around our house about a week ago.
The Smell and Sound of Leaves
For some reason I haven't felt very inspired to take pictures or to post anything in my blog lately. Actually I haven't felt really inspired to do much of anything lately. Maybe a bit of a let down after all the excitement of my trip to Australia. Time to plan something exciting again or to start in on a project of some kind. Since I still have some pictures (probably hundreds) that haven't made it into this blog yet, I thought I'd show you a few that I took a few weeks ago.
I love the smell of fallen leaves and the sound of shuffling through them in the fall!
