This evening we met with our small group. It felt like a very special time to me this time.
Our format is to socialize and catch up over a shared meal, and then a guided discussion followed by a round of, "How can we pray for you?" and prayer.
Many people have been praying for healing for me. And I have already experienced a lot of healing in the last two weeks! I think this healing has been more on a spiritual level. There is a whole new spirit around our home. I feel totally supported by prayer. B. said, "Wouldn't it be amazing if you went to your appointment tomorrow and they told you, "There's nothing there anymore. It's all gone!" (hopefully the tumor would be gone and not my brain). And then to my utter surprise I responded, "But then this would be all over!" This has been such an amazing and healing journey for me already. It almost feels to be too much to ask for physical healing as well. It would be great if chemo or radiation could blast the tumours to smithereens, or a miraculous healing took place, but I wouldn't miss this healing process and journey for anything. So far it has been the best time of my whole life. And so I Ido ask for prayer for healinig - so that I can live to share this healing that is in the process of happening in my life right now.
This doesn't sound like the me I know. I don't noramlly talk like this! All of my life I've been raised in a Christian home, done and said the "right" "Christian" things. I've worked in missions, churches, and have worked with pastors and missionaries. But I have been the administrator who helps to keep these things organized and coordinated. I know that's a very important part of ministries, but I've never been able to share my own faith. I know some things about it, but it has not always been my own personal experience. I am starting to get a glimpse of this personal experience and I am on a pretty steep learning curve with a long way to go. I would like to be allowed to live to share parts of that journey somehow.
So tomorrow at 2:30 pm we have our big appointment with the oncologist to hear what they found through the biopsy and what kind of treatment they will recommend. And I'm not nervous or anxious! It's unexplainable to me. We are at peace. The other day I suddenly thought, "Should I go to have a picture taken now, in case I lose my hair from chemo, or in case I die?" What if we're told, "You have so many months to live..."
Eek! Reality check for a fleeting moment, and then it fades and I'm not worried or anxious. It's hard for me to ask for healing right now, because I feel that a lot of healing is already happening. At the same time, thank you all for your prayers and support!
Henry, Melanie, and Alida (the two nurses) are attending the appointment with us since they will probably best understand what the doctor tells us and will know what to ask. Mark and Rosemary will then update the link that Mark prepared a few weeks ago to keep you updated on brief facts. We're hoping to have a nice cozy dinner at home together afterwards.
Love you all! Thank you all for your prayers and support!
