Getting Back to "Normal"

It feels so good to be home! Even though I was very happy and felt very safe in the hospital, there's really no place like home. Often when I come back home from some time away, our house looks very beige to me (probably because it is), but this time I walked into a warm, filled with plants, with colour, with wood, with people place and it felt so cozy and homey, and such a good place to be!

So now I'm challenging myself to get on with life as normally, though at quite a reduced pace, as my health and energy will allow. Henry and Melanie are both feeling a bit under the weather and Ken and I are limited in our energy, so I'm not the only "patient" around here. So it's time to get on with life just as much as I was able to do while experiencing the symptoms before the diagnosis. One thing that will limit me a bit is that I'm not allowed to drive. So I might take you up on your offers once in a while for a ride somewhere. The other is that I am learning that I have to pace myself. My mind takes a while to process things, and especially when I'm tired so I'll need to learn to take time to decompress and rest. So phone calls and visits are great. But please check before visiting so I can pace myself a bit. Thanks for all your support!

Alida has booked her flight back to Australia for this coming Sunday, so this week we're going to do sometings together, like shopping for a wig, checking out resources at Sunybrook, running some other errands for her, to make the most of our time together while she's here. It's been such a blessing to have her here!
