Today, indeed, was a wonderful day! First of all, with the help of a half sleeping pill from the oncologist, I had the first solid night of sleep in a few weeks. What a wonderful feeling! I tidied up a bit around the house and just felt so nice and relaxed. Alida had seen me struggling with my clothing and IV at the time of the biopsy and suggested it would be helpful to get some comfortable, easy, presentable clothes for the hospital. She knew of a line of clothing, Joe Fresh at the Super Centre, that is casual, comfortable, washable, my style kind that will be easy and not too pyjama-ish. So she set me up with a few in-and-out-of-bed clothes. We were done in no time and no stress on my part. We also found a housecoat that is soooooo warm and soft and cuddly that I don't think I'm ever going to take it off again! Last stop was a little beany hat to cover my head when I loose my hair, but we still need to do something in that department - wig? hat? I have no idea what to do. Can't deal with that today.
Gerard is being sooooo good to me! I really wanted to bring him a treat. All I could think of was food, but settled on some beer, so he could enjoy and relax a quiet Saturday. Can you believe this?! Ellie Duiker is bringing beer home for a treat for her husband! Where is all this change going to end:) ?
This afternoon my church friends, L and R came over to learn how to make cheese cake. I brought it to a potluck recently and L wanted to learn so here they are...

And then we had lots of fun with the wigs...

And then we received a very generous gift!!! an I-Pad for my use in the hospital, and a router to give our house wireless access. Alida was bouncing off the walls in excitement, hooking up the router, downloading applications, trying out her I-phone all over the house. I was amazed at the gift, but at that moment didn't realize how great this will all be for our whole merged family in this house and also for my connection to our e-mail, my blog, and facebook, while at the hospital. It's starting to register (these things take my brain awhile these days). Wow! Thank you! And thank you, Lord, that I can still read and type! So many blessings!
