Sunday

Our church community is an important part of our huge support system. Walking into church I was just completely embraced with love and support on Sunday! After the service the Sunday School kids brought me a big card they had made in class and had to show me exactly who drew which part of it and where I was on it. "We are thinking of you" - from the Sunday School Kids.

And then Carin and her daughter brought me a big gift-wrapped box with this beautiful quilt made just for me.
the enclosed card said, "Wrap yourself up in this quilt and the Safe Arms of Jesus"
Safe in the Arms of Jesus
Safe on His gentle breast
There by His love o'ershaded
Sweetly my soul doth rest

(Carin has a beautiful quilt-making ministry (seeMargaret's Hope Chest http//margaret'shopechest.blogspot.com) Please read about this ministry and her story and more pictures of this quilt. )

As she was thinking about a pattern for a quilt for me, she thought of my love of gardening, so started by googling, 'Ellie's garden' and a quilt pattern called, "Ellie's Garden" actually came up! So that's the one she made for me so that I can take my garden along to the hospital. It is a beautiful quilt! It's like a flower garden! I can't wait to cheer up my hospital room with it! And in the meantime we have it hanging over a chair in the living room and I just keep seeing more and more flowers in the colours in the quilt. It's beautiful!!

A note on the quilt says, "Ellie's Garden"
The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.

And then tying right into this theme, Psalm 131 was read:

O Lord, my heart is not lifted up,

My eyes are not raised too high;

I do not occupy myself with things to great and too marvelous for me.

But I have calmed and quieted my soul,

Like a child quieted at its mother's breast,

like a child that is quieted is my soul.

O Israel, hope in the Lord

from this time forth and forevermore.

Good Monday, morning! What a bright, beautiful, sunshiny day! I'm on way out to have lunch with some friends. Catch you later!
