Bay Window Gardening Update

So while we've been on our cancer journey, my living bay window garden has just gone right on growing! In my January 13th "Itchy Thumb" post I was saying how eager I was to see something growing, and so I started experimenting with some peat pots. Well, everything grew! Let me give you a peek...
This is the basil seeded on January 12/11

And the parsley also seeded on January 12

And then I put some green bean seeds into a pot of soil on January 21st
And they grew and grew. We were wondering whether they would need to be polinated somehow to actually grow any beans .
And now we're actually seeing flowers and some tiny little beans, that are showing up all by themselves! It's so much fun!

And then when Carin gave me this beautiful "Ellie's Garden" quilt so that I could enjoy this garden in the hospital, I got another inspiration... to start up one little peat pot of vegetable seeds at the hospital for each chemo treatment session and then I would eventually end up with a whole chemo vegetable garden.

That sounded like a great and fun idea, but we weren't sure growing something like this at the hospital would be allowed. That was kind of disappointing, but Gerard surprised me with a green pepper peat pot when I got home from the hospital, and we've now decided to start up a new peat pot on each coming-home day for all the upcoming chemo sessions.

So here is the start of the green peppers, seeded February 28th.
I'm already having fun checking to see whether anything has germinated yet. Nothing yet! Patience! Exciting!
