Mini Road Trip to Stratford & Kitchener

Yesterday my nephew David and I went on a mini road trip and had a great day together! He drove our car. It was like having a private chauffeur. First stop was breakfast snack at Tim Hortons at Exit 299. Then on to my parents in Stratford where I had lunch while David watched the 4-vehicle Stratford St. Patrick's Day parade:). It was great to spend some in my parents' home and just to be together for a while.

They needed to get down for a nap before another commitment, so off to our next stop...

A visit with my brother Jeff, who lives in the same community as my parents. He met me all decked out in St. Patrick's Day green and showed me around introducing me to the people he volunteers with who were all dressed in green as well. Jeff's green attire drew lots of smiles and attention from the residents, especially the flashing shamrock on his hat! It was lots of fun.

David joined us again and we helped Jeff take down his Christmas village and other decorations. What I love about this picture is Jeff in all his St. Patrick's Day clothes with the Christmas wreath in the background.

Next stop was a very short visit with Jerry & Susan, Gerard's brother and sister-in-law. Susan had offered to lend us a juicer for making healthy smoothies and drinks. My brother Andy has given us the recipes he used to strengthen his immune system and fight his cancer, so now Ken and I are all ready to get juicing fruits and vegetables!

Susan is an amazing seamstress, able to make all kinds of things, including the little bag in the picture above. We saw her sewing room, and all her supplies. I fell in love with this row of colourful spools of thread.

Next stop... David's folks, my brother Carel and sister-in-law, Irene. They just moved in from BC a few months ago and we had a wonderful visit in their newly carpetted, painted and furnished living room. It looks great! Niece Maria was home too so we had a chance to catch up, have tea, and a delicious dinner!

David and I enjoyed our day of running around to family, catching up with each other on the way to and from, and being out for the day together. He brought home one very happy Aunt Ellie!

And look what I found in the garden this morning! Our first flowers of the season, snow drops!
