Our New Kitty, Shadow

When Alida and I were staying with my brother Bart in the Ottawa area, I fell in love with his cat, Molly. For some reason she took to me too and early in the mornings she would sit on my lap as we rocked in the glider rocker and just had some early morning quiet time together. She felt so nice and warm and comfortable and cuddly! Usually I'm really not drawn to cats, but the moment we came into the house and I saw her looking at me, I fell in love with her.
I've heard and read about how cats bond with people, especially when someone is ill or there's something wrong. My sister, Tina, was not a cat lover either, but when she was sick the cat often kept her company and Tina found it very comforting.

So that's how another one of my "steroid" ideas began. Wouldn't it be nice to have a cat to cuddle when I'm not feeling so well? I talked about it with my cat-loving niece, Karen, started sharing the idea with some family members, but wasn't so sure it would go over so well in our household. And then when I came home from Ottawa I realized that getting a cat, on top of all the other changes we were adjusting to, would not be a good idea... so it was a nice idea while it lasted, but I was fine with letting it go.

Then... yesterday my brother-in-law, John, with my nieces Karen and Anna, came for a visit and guess what!!! they brought me a kitten! A sweet, soft, cuddly little kitten.
So here's introducing... our new little kitty...... Shadow!

Complete in her little basket, with a kitty blanket and all. No fuss, no muss, no cat hair, no kitty litter or hairballs... just one cute, soft, cuddly little kitten!
