Quick Update

Hi There!

- Alida arrived safely last night and is now unpacking and temporarily settling into our home and trying to get adjusted to our time. She has a job interview tomorrow.
- Between working in the garden, Alida's arrival, reading a book our pastor lent me last week, and pacing myself by lying on the couch off and on during the day, I haven't spent much time writing in this blog lately.
- On Friday morning I walked to the pool with Gerard, sat in the lobby and while he swam I got to see and catch up with lots of people I normally swim with.  I actually could still swim now energy-wise and it would be really good for me, but the chlorine aggravates my skin, which is already sensitive from the chemo.
- This weekend we flew the Canadian flag on our house - a tradition we have for the summer long weekends.
- My brother and sister-in-law brought my parents for a visit on Saturday morning. Even though we call each other every other day, it was good to see each other in person again.
- I had a comfortable front-row seat for the fireworks on Sunday night.  Our local public school had an event that ended with fireworks - some really beautiful ones! - and I could see them in between the tree tops from my comfortable seat on our living room couch.
- Henry and Melanie felt the baby move for the first time today!
- today we took some of the soil  out of the herb barrel outside the kitchen door, partially tipped it, and then Gerard drilled holes in the bottom.  Now the water is finally starting to drain out of it.  I'll soon be able to plant the basil and parsley back in there without having them drown from all the rain.
- tomorrow morning (Tues) we'll start calling the hospital to check on the availability of a bed for me for my next round of chemo. So maybe I'll be going in tomorrow, or otherwise Wednesday.
- I'm not looking forward to going back in for chemo again because I'm feeling so well right now.  I'm also starting to get a little nervous, especially about the spinal infusions. However, after the good experience with the last round I'm not nearly as anxious as last month.
- In my small efforts at de-cluttering lately I threw out a hair brush that I've had for years and years and never used, and now today Alida was asking for it!
- No sign of our rabbit friend today.
- I saw the first green bean seedling out in garden today!
