Dancing in the Rain

It was wonderful to wake up to sunshine this morning!  It makes life feel so much more cheerful.  And tomorrow is expected to be even warmer.  I'm planning to take the tomato and green pepper plants,  from my living room bay window garden, outside to just inside the garage door, so they can start getting used to the outside air before they get planted in the garden in three or four weeks.  This way I only have to raise and lower the garage door instead of carrying plants in and out of  the garage.  I actually started these plants way too early, but at the time I was all excited about growing something and wasn't thinking about how big they would be by the end of May.

This year I'm going to try growing tomatillos (aka ground cherries). They are kind of a cross between cherry tomatoes and goose berries and have a paper-like husk around them like the chinese lantern flowers have.  I saw and tasted them for the very first time last summer, and decided right then and there that I would like to try growing them this year. So after my third round of chemo I found tomatillo seeds at Canadian Tire and found that they are also called ground cherries. Whatever, the seeds are already in some moist soil and I am checking daily for the little plants to emerge from the soil, but nothing yet. Patience!

One of the best things about this time of year is to see new flowers and new plants in the garden every day. With all this rain we've been having everything is just popping out of the ground and with the cooler termperatures all of the early spring flowers are lasting so much longer than usual.

A few quick updates:
-  Gerard's back is doing much better - still a little stiff when he's been sitting for too long, but he's getting around fine with very little or no pain.
-  Today was my first whole day with no headaches at all since my last round of chemo.  Yay! (although they weren't bad at all this time around). So today I went for two short walks, and hope to walk more and further every day.
- Only 18 more days until Alida comes back from Australia!
- Mark and Rosemary, with the help of family and friends, put in a stone patio just outside of their apartment. This afternoon Mark was out there BBQing in his socks because they can now step out on to a nice clean patio instead of into a muddy back yard.
- Henry and Melanie's house renovations are almost done.  They are so excited and hope to start painting this Saturday while the contractor finishes up some last little things.
- Yesterday and the day before I prepared most of our dinner for the first time in many, many months.

Here's something I read today:

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.
It's about learning to dance in the rain.

Now I just need to practise my dancing...
